Denise Kontras

Denise Kontras, MA

Denise Kontras is an advocate, professional speaker, and the founder of From Hurting to Healing™.

Her powerful content promotes healing from domestic violence by teaching strategies for life after abuse and separates the truths from the myths. Denise’s content addresses all forms of intimate partner violence, from psychological abuse to campus sexual assault. Combining keen insight with years of research, Denise inspires survivors to heal from their past and embrace their future. Her book, "It’s Not Over When You Leave: 7 Truths of Domestic Violence" will be available on Amazon.

For almost two decades, Denise has served as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence and their children. She is a member of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network Interfaith Task Force, the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence, Toastmasters International and the National Speakers Association of Ohio. Denise is a former newspaper reporter and contributor to USA Today. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the Ohio State University.
